A&M move

According to ESPN.com Texas A&M is considering moving to the SEC conference instead of staying with the Big 12. They say that it's because they're worried about the future stability of the Big 12. Here's some of my reasons why I think it's a good plan in theory, but a bad one in reality.

In theory: yes, I agree that the future of the Big 12 may be shaky. But, as far as I can see in the wake of Nebraska and Colorado leaving the conference, the other teams seem content with where they are. Things may change in the future, but things are always changing around because there's a lot of NCAA conferences and a lot of teams with different goals for their future.

in reality: If we're strictly talking football, they'd get crushed. Even in the big 12 (as much as I hate to admit it as a Mizzou fan) isn't a very strong conference (especially with the leaving of Nebraska), everybody who knows the slightest about football knows that. Granted, Oklahoma is currently ranked #1 overall. But traditionally, the consistently dominant schools come from the SEC. Mizzou, Nebraska, and Oklahoma have been battling it out for the Big 12 championship for the past few years with A&M lost in the shuffle. How can they expect to stand up to teams like Georgia, Arkansas, and Auburn (well, at least last year's team).

In retrospect it really wouldn't devastatingly hurt the Big 12 or intensely benefit the SEC. Granted, it would be sad to see them go because they're always a fun team to play. My thoughts are that they probably won't end up going through with it. But who knows, maybe they'll actually go through with it
